What are you doing this weekend?
The temperature is rising and so is the humidity, that must mean it is July already. I can’t belive how fast the summer is flying by! There are a number of exciting programs happening this month related to diversity and one is this weekend. On Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 The University of Toledo will be hosting the 9th Annual African American Festival on the Scott Park Campus of Energy and Innovation. This event is organized by the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union and will be full of great music, food and fun for the entire family. Every year, the theme for this event is “Celebrating Our History, Health and Education.”
The festival kicks off with a prayer breakfast on Friday, July 19 at Bethlehem Baptist Church and a parade down Dorr Street on Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. Rocky will be featured in the parade along with a UT bus full of UT staff and faculty (if you want to join us on the bus, call 419.530.7232). The festival opens for visitors at 1 p.m. on and the music will start rockin’ at 2 p.m on both Saturday and Sunday. For a complete listing of the musical acts, click here http://www.toledourban.com/TUFCU/AAF.aspx. To purchase tickets in advance of the festival, contact 419-255-8876. At the gate, tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for UT Students (with Rocket Card), seniors and children.
I hope to see you there, this is a very special celebration of music, culture and education!
