Saying goodbye? Don’t burn bridges.
I just came across this article about a young woman who posted a video upon quitting her job.
Admittedly, I enjoyed the video. It’s clever, it’s funny, it’s relatable. There are times when all of us feel overworked, burnt out, and don’t 100% agree with others in our organization.
But I would NEVER do what she did – no matter how disgruntled I was.
Wanna know why?
Quite frankly, I’ve got years to go before I can retire.
First impressions are crucial – we all know that. But what about last impressions?
If you are a stellar employee but blow off your job or openly “slam” your employer when you know you’re leaving, I hope you don’t expect to need any professional support – in the form of a reference or guidance – ever again from your boss or your colleagues. Believe me – leaving them high and dry will overshadow any other great things you did before.
And what about the impression that those actions give to future employers?
