Lindsay and I were eating lunch and got a chance to walk side by side with a Giraffe. Its like being in a zoo without anything separating you from the animals. I was amazed once again.

All these guys wanna do is eat! I think he was especially greedy.
It was kool to hang with these guys for a while. The lion cubs love to nibble your cloths.
They can be calm at at times, so thats always good.

Just an elephant passing by on the road…..nothing too extreme.
Lions chillin on the side of the trail.

I know this isn’t a good picture, but I wanted to try and capture the many Giraffe we seen because there were a ton of them.

So I apologize, I completely forgot to put up my last post about South Africa. I have posted some pictures below of my experience.

This is the view of some of the children at a children crusade we had. There were so many kids there….and they were all full of energy and wanted to play.

We had a chance to visit a schools and they sang their national anthem to us. I never seen so many smiling kids before. Also if anyone every needs dancing lessons, these kids know how to dance. lol, I was amazed….we had a dance competition on the stage and we picked the two best dancers to compete against each other, and we had tons of fun with that. On the stage is Pastor Acts who is also a part of missions in South Africa. He works with a organizations called Impact Africa and he just started another organization to impact his community. He’s a great man of God.

We got a chance talk with so many great people there. While rushing back to our bus, because we were late we seen a family outside their home so we got a chance to bless these people with blankets. Many blankets were given out on this trip due to many supporters. Thank you so much for blessing these people.
This picture is amazing! Many kids on that day asked Jesus into their hearts and to see that was the most fulfilling moment I could ever ask for. I’m speechless.

The people there were so friendly. I encourage everyone, to please visit Diepsloot Africa, It’s an experience you won’t forget because it will change your life.

So many might know already, but I work at the Rocket Launch during student orientation and it is literally an all day event! It’s a “fun” filled day of meeting some of the new students and parents. I am a family guide, so I get a chance to speak with the parents and hear a lot of the questions about; “Is my child safe on campus?”, “Wear can my child park their car ?”, and “What has my personal experience been like on campus?”. It’s pretty exciting to talk with the students and see the excitement in their eyes of getting away from their parents and anticipating becoming more of an adult.
I want your opinion, parents and students in what you thought of Rocket Launch. What were some of the things that you like or dislike about it? What would you add or change about it?…or was it just a day of overwhelming fun for you!..lol
WELCOME NEW ROCKETS TO ROCKET COUNTRY!

For the past two weeks I have been studying my brains out for a test. I am starting a job/internship and it requires me to take an Ohio Health Insurance test. I have been going over review material and learning different polices offered in Ohio and it took a lot of memorizing. About a month ago I took a three day course that goes over some of the material that may show up on this exam and a guy who has taken a licensure exam for Ohio explained that it is not by any measure easy but its well worth it. With the knowledge from the classes and the guy who has had to take the exams numerous times, I began to study, study and do more studying. It cost $63 to take the exam, and because I am on a student budget, I don’t have the funds to pay for the test again, so it is a “must” that I pass the exam on the first try.Today I went to go and take the exam and I did my best at keeping my hopes high, knowing that I was going to pass this exam and I wouldn’t be taking it again. So I arrived at the testing center and it was very quite and upon entering, even in the lobby people were whispering. This set the mood for anxiety and nervousness and here I was about to take the exam of a lifetime. I have a bad habit of finishing an exam and going back over my answers and changing them, ultimately changing the right answer into something wrong. So I answered all the questions and I began to go back over my answer, and I felt led to STOP! I said to myself, “I can’t do this, turn your test in now”. So I stopped going over my answers and turned my test in. They give you immediate results, so now the wait begins to see the verdict.
After walking out of the testing area, the receptionist told me to wait why she printed off my results. This Receptionist named Marg is perfect for what she does because I began looking for a facial expression from her to retrieve whether or not if I passed. She was printing out the document, and she showed no emotion. The papers came out and she handed me the paper. This was another epic moment in my life because I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. The test said CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING THE EXAM! The Angels in heaven began to sing, and for a moment I thought I heard God say “well done”. I got this big grin on my face and then Marg seen me and she began to smile. I walked out of the building and I yelled to the top of the voice in excitement. I was overwhelmed with joy!!! I passed the test. Getting over this first hurdle in the business felt great and I already love working with AFLAC! Not many people can say that they work for the duck, but I can say that I work for the duck and proud of it.
AAAFLACC!

So I just got a chance to see some new show called, ” I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of here.” This shows puts celebrities in a jungle in Costa Rica and leave them there to survive for three weeks and they struggle to survive in the jungle to raise money for their selected charities. There are celebrities on like; John Sally, Janice Dickerson,Steven Baldwin, Holly Montik, Lou Diamond, Patti Blagojevichs, Torrie Wilson and Sanjaya. I think that they have a good mixture of people from different backgrounds that bring character to the show.
It is quite funny to see the other celebrities try and coexist together and try to get a long. With the cameras being on the celebrities 24/7, you are able to see the funny antics that one wouldn’t normally see. For example; Janice Dickerson is always stealing food from the other celebrities and lies a lot. After a long day of studying, it provides some good moments of laughter. Janice Dickerson makes some of the funniest faces, and she is just literally hilarious.
I am currently at work so I am going to get back to work! GO ROCKETS!

I just got back into the states 6.13.09 and I am a bit sad. , I really did not want to come back. I would consider this to me the greatest trip one could ever take! The first day I got there, I was greeted with warm weather in Johannesburg and a warm Sawubona from the great Africaans.

We traveled to our place of rest to dropped off our luggage and started training minutes later for the next day.(the first picture below is our great accommodations, it was a camp site….thanks so much JSMI and Impact Africa)

After our training day, we then heading out to Diepsloot. I had no idea what this place would be like but I was sure to find out. We arrived at Diepsloot and I went into shock! I was amazed at the condition of the people and excited that I was there to help as much as I could. The people in Diepsloot were so welcoming and accomadating. Diepsloot is considered a forgotten area and people group that many majority of people reject. There where many occasions when I would talk with other people from neighboring cities about my visit in Diepsloot and they were shocked that we would be in that area because it is noted that people don’t go there. A 39 year old guy stated; “I have lived 5km from Diepsloot all my life and I know not to every go to diepsloot, it’s bad there”. From just being in Diepsloot for only a few days my experience is totally different because while there, the people where happy to see that people came to visit them and I had a great time. I never felt unsafe and I was always greeted by the people. Before I even stepped foot off the bus there were already a group of children awaiting just to say hello to whoever stepped out of the bus.

I will be posting another entry momentarily….
Thanks for reading.

UT is tearing down and building up in so many places. I am glad that even in this harsh economy we are still improving as a university. There are many buildings that are being remodeled, torn down, and built up… pretty kool stuff.

The Business Building. I think that building is going to be really nice when it is finished. I unfortunately wont be here to see the end product but good results seem promising.

(picture is kinda far from the building but you get the point)
This is the newly renovated Memorial Field House. There was even a building that was just demolished that stood in front of the Memorial Feild House but I am not completely sure what the name was….lol

there seems to be a lot of construction taking place on campus but we appreciate all the hard work and maybe even the loud noise sometimes in the middle of class of a construction worker drilling nearby. We know that all the work and noise will pay off and make the campus look even better.
I have a question about Savage Hall. Does anyone know whats going on over there?…I am curious what they are building now. (or are they just playing in the dirt…lol)
-Peace
