Cultural Events at UT
April is a busy month — taxes are due, classes are finishing up, students are planning their summer vacations, and those graduating are moving onto the next step.
The Office of International Student & Scholar Services (OISSS) wants to make everyone aware of some fantastic events occurring this month. These events are a great way to learn about other cultures, or perhaps a way to enjoy a culture you’re already familiar with.
The African People’s Association present’s Africa Night: The Growth of Africa Saturday, April 14. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. in the Ingman Room (SU). Tickets: $10 Students, $12 Faculty/Staff, $15 Non-Students/Staff. This event features music, dance, food, skits, a fashion show, and more!
The Center for International Studies & Programs (CISP) and the Global Programming Specialist (GPS) Team are sponsoring a Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Game on Saturday, April 21 at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and include a ride to the game, a ticket, and $10 Mud Hens money voucher to purchase food or merchandise! Sign up in OISSS, Snyder Memorial 1020.
OISSS is holding a workshop for F-1 and J-1 students: Employment Options after Graduation. The workshop will be Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. in Snyder Memorial 1350. The workshop will cover OPT, OPT STEM Extension, H-1B information, and permanent residency.
Attention UT faculty, staff, and students: Do you know a hard-working and deserving international student? Nominate them for International Student of the Year! Follow this link to nominate an international student; deadline for nominations is Thursday, April 19. International Student of the Year will be announced at the International Student & Scholar Appreciation Day on Monday, April 30. Join OISSS & CISP in celebrating the academic year by making your own ice cream sundaes! Appreciation Day will be held in OISSS, Snyder Memorial 1020 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
