Thanks for this blog, Christy. It is yet another example of how the Office of International Student Services goes above and beyond the norm for their students. Tian is to be commended for doing what she needs to do in spite of her limited mobility, and your office deserves kudos for helping Tian with her unusual circumstances. Providing such service is not something we do 40+ hours per week--it's a way of life!

OISS has been the go-to place for 90% international students when they seek assistance with their academia, career and living conditions. It's important for the Office to listen to, understand, and meet reasonable needs of the students it serves. The service function has improved significantly, which is witnessed by 2000+ international students, employees, and faculties. I'm delighted to hear stories like Tian's.

Each and every interaction with the student coming through the door of OISS can make a huge impact in his/her life. I remember you when I interviewed at consulates, when I went through customs and borders, and when I started new employments. All your supports and efforts in continuous improvement are valued and appreciated.

Great reminders to those of us who know where the closest drinking fountain, bathroom or recycle bins are. We've all been that new person on campus who was relieved when someone stopped to ask, "Do you need some help?"

As a Diversity Awareness Trainer, it is always a good thing to know that others really get it. Thanks for sharing your reaction to the training. Hopefully others will have a similiar positive response.
