Glass City Marathon visits The University of Toledo
The Glass City Marathon is a spring event that many individuals look forward to each year. The event doubled its participation last year and is likely to grow even more this year! Thousands of runners and spectators will visit the University of Toledo over the course of the weekend to attend the events, and to watch the start and finish of each race. The Glass City Marathon isn’t just a marathon; it is a weekend event filled with something for everyone. The festivities kick off Saturday, April 16th with the expo which takes place in Savage Arena. Health and fitness related vendors will fill the arena to provide information and products for runners and their families/friends. The Kids Marathon is a fun filled event that also takes place on Saturday in the Glass Bowl. The participating kids will have the opportunity to run on the field, meet the UT Football team, and experience many more exciting and fun things. The 5k, half marathon, full marathon and relay teams will begin bright and early on Sunday, April 17th. These events aren’t just for runners. We encourage UT organizations, students, faculty and staff to come out and support these events through volunteering or cheering on the runners along the course. There is something for everyone: runners, children and volunteers just to name a few. Visit www.glasscitymarathon.org for more information regarding each of the events.
Since this event is a great showcase of our University, several portions of campus will have limited access throughout the weekend; including the closure of Lot 10 beginning Friday April 15th at 10pm. For more information on these closures please visit the following links:
