National Nutrition Month!
Rocket Wellness invites everyone at the University of Toledo to join us in celebrating National Nutrition Month 2014® throughout the month of March! While many factors play a role in food choices we make, the foods we enjoy are the ones we eat the most, so the theme for this year is make sure you “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right!” National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign held annually in March. It was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and mirrors the mission of UTMC to improve the human condition, by focusing attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
On Wednesday, March 12th we will be celebrating registered dietitian nutritionist day in the Four Seasons Bistro with a sampling of some nutritious fruits and vegetables that are often overlooked such as mango, fig, jicama, and kohlrabi. There will also be information available about some of the services provided by registered dietitians and handouts available for you to take home.
On Tuesday, March 18th in the Four Seasons Bistro there will be sampling of a healthy grilled chicken and black olive recipe. There will also be free recipes and healthy eating tips sheets available.
You can also continue to eat well around the HSC by taking advantage of the Rocket Wellness “Smart Choices” in the Four Seasons Bistro. These tags identify healthier options that meet our strict guidelines for calories, sodium and fiber, and look for posted calorie information for items in the Bistro, and the daily wellness meal served Monday through Friday for only $3.99!
