How’s Your BOD?
Body fat percentage is the percentage of total body weight that is comprised of fat. Decreasing your body fat percentage, if it is too high, isn’t just about improving your appearance. A high percentage of body fat can have a negative effect on your overall well-being: Excess fat has been linked to numerous health problems such as increased risk for diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Having excess fat, specifically surrounding the internal organs, can damage your health and contribute to serious medical conditions such as liver disease.
The Bod Pod is a unique technology that uses whole-body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass) in adults and children. By tracking your body composition one can evaluate the progress of exercise and nutritional programs and make changes to achieve maximum performance. The Bod Pod is routinely used for testing a variety of subjects, including professional/collegiate athletes and sumo wrestlers. It is also an exclusive body composition testing method used for prospective NFL players.
Whether you are in good physical shape, on a weight loss program, or you would just like to be in better shape, an accurate body composition analysis by the BOD POD can identify important shifts in your fat and fat-free mass that a scale, calipers, and bioelectric impedance cannot.
To see how you rate, visit the UT Human Performance and Fitness Professionals Association’s Body Composition Assessment Clinics brought to you in part by the Department of Kinesiology and take the body composition assessments. We are located in room 2307 of the Health and Human Service Building. If you enter UT off of Bancroft’s main entrance North Towerview Drive, you will see the building on your right. Park in lot 1S.
Clients will be scheduled 15 min. apart.
You need to wear a tight fitting swim suit or lycra pants and top. It will go “quicker” if you have the apparel on under your clothing when you arrive.
No jewelry can be worn for the test.
We provide a swim cap for the test.
The cost is $20.00 cash or check, cash preferred.
Plan to be in the lab at least 25 min. total.
We will be scheduling clients for the Bod Pod on:
SUNDAY May 6th 1-3 pm
WEDNESDAY MAY 9th 10-2
THURSDAY MAY 10th 10-2
SATURDAY JUNE 23 9-12
SATURDAY July 21 9-12

Excess body fats are bothersome but of course you can reduce it by doing some cardio exercise like running and brisk walking.

I didn’t know about the BOD POD until now, sounds very promising. I’ve got a scale at home that can also measure body fat and muscle mass, but the results are mostly inaccurate. I’d like to try the Bod Pod some time to get an exact measurement.

I wish more universities would: a) Allow a student to run a blog through their main campus websites; and, b) Allow physical checkups such as these for little to no cost to the student/faculty. Just my two cents…
