Rock your College Colors
I had an awesome opportunity the other day to help at a photoshoot that took place on top of the Press Tower of The Glass Bowl!!!
After the initial shock of how high up I was, I thought it would be fun to explore a little. While up there, I had one of those “big picture” moments as I looked out around our beautiful campus. With College Colors day being tomorrow, I wanted to share with you what I was thinking when I looked at The University of Toledo from an entirely different perspective, so we remember all the great things about being a Toledo Rocket!
First things first… the football field. I wont lie, my initial thought as I looked at the 120 yards of the field… was all the of the fun and challenging days of being a student athlete.. oh the memories of practices and conditioning on that field– thanks coaches!
My next thought as I saw football players and staff working hard in preparation for the season, was what a sight its going to be on September 15 when our Toledo Rockets football team takes the field against our rivals BGSU with the stadium packed and we all show them everything that is Rocket Nation! Can’t you see it?!?
With my focus going back to the photoshoot that was featuring UHall in the background. I thought about the first time I stepped foot on campus on my recruiting trip, the first building I saw was UHall and I fell in love instantly with the Tower and how its design is consistent around campus… pretty beautiful isn’t it?!
Then I went to look at the other side of campus and of course, what was the next building that was right in front of me, Parks Tower! It made me think of all the different places I have lived during my collegiate career and it made me wonder how excited the Freshmen on campus must be for their first year of college AND the returning students that may live off campus now, but how much they love UT and have the same excitement about being back!
With that excitement in mind, I encourage you all to wear your Midnight Blue and Gold tomorrow, Friday, August 31 to participate in the nation wide College Colors Day! Be proud of the university that has provided you with the opportunity to recieve your college degree and all the memories that come with that experience.
GO ROCKETS!
